I watched Sixteen Candles again last night on VCD. (Yep, I got influenced by Jessica Darling, the heroine of Sloppy Firsts, my favorite book ever)
Before I even bought it, I was searching in lots of video stores for that one particular movie. It got so much praise by Ms. Darling that I became so curious as to what sort of movie it would be. Of course, I know that it's an '80s teen flick written and directed by the master of teen flicks himself, John Hughes (who also created one of my favorite movies, The Breakfast Club).
So one time, I was browsing Video City, I think, and yes! Finally, I found the friggin' movie!!! It was joy, oh sweet motherfuckin' JOY!!! I quickly went home to watch it....Only to be let down. I didn't like it at first because it's too...short. Anyway, I forgot about it after that.
Until last night. I was so bored to tears that I browsed some of our dust-dirty old VCDs and I faced its innocent cover again. I watched it with my little sister (I told her to sleep already, but she was so stubborn).
After the first few scenes, I thought, "Sigh. It's gonna be one hella boring night." But I was wrong. I realized that it was sooo GOOD. I finally came to the idea that it had a meaning. Gawd, I was so stupid! How did I even let go of Samantha Baker, Jake Ryan, and The Geek?! Especially The Geek! Anthony Michael Hall was impeccable! He's got my vote for Best Geek Ever. 1st runner up would be Seth Cohen. (Sorry, Adam Brody and O.C. producers)
Soooo see ya. Better watch it again! LOL.
That was quick.
